Course description
Afro-Cuban dances stem from a rich cultural and musical heritage, shaped in particular by African traditions passed down and developed in Cuba over generations.
This course offers an exploration of several traditional Afro-Cuban dances, their rhythms, movements and the cultural contexts to which they belong. Through various forms of dance expression, we will discover the diversity of this living heritage, paying particular attention to the relationship between the body, music, rhythm and expression.
Each dance has its own body language, energy and relationship with music. The aim is to gradually discover these distinctive features, develop your musical awareness and gain a better understanding of the links between dance and Afro-Cuban culture.
This course is open to everyone, whatever your level. No previous experience is required, and you do not need to bring anyone with you. The dances are practised individually.
A space to discover, experience and explore traditional Afro-Cuban dances, whilst respecting their history, diversity and the ways in which they are passed down.
