Join us for an eclectic Takeover Thursday for each exhibition at the Konschthal. These events are an opportunity to rediscover the exhibitions from the perspective of our guests. Each evening is uniquely conceived by participants working in various fields, it revolves around changing themes related to the exhibitions. Through concerts, readings, encounters, performances, workshops, and much more, the Konschthal reinvents itself.
In response to the exhibition Ruin Echoes, the Konschthal invites Anastasiia Zhuravel to create an evening centered around the themes that run through the exhibition.

Reading Remains
Ruins are never simply the remains of what has been destroyed. They are contested spaces where memory, violence, material traces, and possible futures intersect. What survives destruction, and who has the power to determine what is remembered, erased, or rebuilt?
Curated by Anastasiia Zhuravel and moderated by Marija Marić, this edition of Takeover Thursday, presented within the exhibition Ruin Echoes at Konschthal in collaboration with LUCA – Luxembourg Center for Architecture, approaches ruins not as passive remnants of the past, but as active sites of investigation, resistance, and transformation.
Through the lecture Surviving Fragments, Dr. Samaneh Moafi of Forensic Architecture examines how fragments of physical and digital environments become evidence of violence and instruments against erasure. In parallel, the installation Circularity on the Edge explores how the material remains of destroyed buildings in Ukraine can be reinterpreted as resources for collective recovery through AI-assisted mapping and circular reconstruction practices.
Moving between forensic investigation and material reuse, the programme asks how we might learn to read ruins differently: not only as evidence of what has been lost, but as spaces where questions of responsibility, collective agency, and the politics of reconstruction are negotiated. Ultimately, it invites us to consider whether rebuilding means restoring what once existed or imagining fundamentally different ways of inhabiting the world after destruction.
