DE Die im Jahr 2007 gegründete Gauthier Dance//Dance Company Theaterhaus Stuttgart hat sich längst als feste internationale Größe etabliert. Im neuen Doppelprogramm des gefeierten Ensembles unter Leitung von Eric Gauthier treffen kraftvolle Kontraste aufeinander. Zwei international renommierte Artists in Residence setzen sich mit zentralen menschlichen Gefühlszuständen auseinander: Die kanadisch-amerikanische Choreografin Aszure Barton widmet ihr neues Werk dem Thema Glück, während Hofesh Shechter mit Unluck dessen düsteren Gegenpart erkundet. Shechters bildstarke, eindringliche Tanzsprache scheint wie geschaffen für eine tänzerische Auseinandersetzung mit dem Unglück. Zuletzt war Gauthier Dance in der Spielzeit 23 · 24 mit den JUNIORS (Renaissance) und 15 YEARS ALIVE am Grand Théâtre zu Gast.
FR Eric Gauthier et sa compagnie reviennent avec Luck / Unluck, une soirée en deux temps, signée par deux des artistes en résidence de la compagnie : Aszure Barton et Hofesh Shechter. À travers une proposition aussi contrastée que vibrante, Aszure Barton, ambassadrice officielle de la danse contemporaine au Canada et artiste à la force de création intarissable, explore les vertiges de la chance, alors que Hofesh Shechter, maître des atmosphères sombres et visuelles, s’empare de son envers, le malheur. Entre tension, humour et poésie, leurs écritures se répondent, se défient et se complètent. Le spectacle déploie une énergie brute, un théâtre du mouvement où l’inattendu devient moteur.
ENLuck / Unluck marks the return of Gauthier Dance to the Grand Théâtre with two new works by the company's world-renowned artists in residence Aszure Barton and Hofesh Shechter. The programme sets distinct choreographic voices side by side, forming a diptych in which fortune’s opposing faces collide. In a charged dialogue, Barton approaches the notion of luck through her finely wrought physicality and musical intelligence, while Shechter counters with a darker, pulse-driven exploration of misfortune, grounded in rhythm and communal intensity. This poetic tension between lightness and shadow reveals how chance, agency and vulnerability are inscribed in bodies. Positioned between precision and propulsion, the double bill exposes the dancers to shifting states of control, momentum and risk.
