Pierre Fontenelle : Cello
Frin Wolter : Chromatic Accordion
.
What could be more unexpected—and compelling—than the pairing of a cello and an accordion?
Duo Kiasma, formed by Pierre Fontenelle and Frin Wolter, boldly travels across stylistic horizons, blending the sonorities of their respective instruments into a genre-defying and unclassifiable repertoire. Through their creativity, spontaneity, and virtuosity, these two young artists offer a fresh and deeply personal vision of the performer’s role in the 21st century.

Winners of the First Prize at the International Accordé’Opale Competition (France) and recipients of a “Coup de Coeur” from the Royal Juillet Musical de Saint-Hubert, the duo specializes in arranging, transcribing, and recomposing works from a wide range of traditions: early music (Dowland, Rameau), romantic and modern repertoire (Bruch, Shostakovich, Messiaen), jazz, folk, rock, and film music (John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Ennio Morricone...), as well as various contemporary compositions.
Founded in 2016 and based between Namur and Luxembourg, Duo Kiasma regularly performs in Belgium, France, and Luxembourg, with festival appearances at Les Festivals de Wallonie, Festival Accordé’Opale, and the Royal Juillet Musical de Saint-Hubert. Prestigious venues include the Philharmonie Luxembourg, Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, Philharmonie de Liège, Taipei National Concert Hall, and the Shanghai Oriental Art Center.
