Equivalents - Gegen die Wand

Martine BREUER - Cristina DIAS DE MAGALHAES

Cristina Dias de Magalhães (*1979) and Martine Breuer (*1980), artists and

longtime friends, are reuniting for their third joint exhibition, titled

“Equivalents – Gegen die Wand.”

After studying fine arts together at the University of Paris 1 (Panthéon-

Sorbonne) and exhibiting in 2006 (Galerie Crous Beaux-Arts, the Embassy of

Luxembourg, and the Biermans Lapôtre Foundation in Paris) and in 2012 (Konschthaus Beim

Engel in Luxembourg), they once again bring their respective artistic worlds

.

—photography and painting—into dialogue to explore the relationship between

imagination and reality, personal introspection, and awareness of the challenges that

await us in today’s world.

Mutual listening, which is part of the theme of this year’s Walfer Bicherdeeg,

entitled “Oppen Oueren,” is evident both in their long-standing friendship

and in the artistic worlds developed by each of the artists.
