Grevenmacher
The metropolis of the Moselle
With its omnipresent sign of Roman heritage, the town of Grevenmacher offers a surprisingly wide range of activities. No matter if you consider yourself as a wine lover, a historian, an animal lover, a culture junky, a hiking enthusiast or a water rat, in the biggest city of the region everybody will find exactly what they are looking for. The former fortified town has become an important business center, as well as a provider of numerous cultural events in the "Kulturhuef". Grevenmacher is therefore the ideal starting point for a discovery journey in the region, be it on board of the “MS Princesse Marie-Astrid” or by visiting the river locks.
Every year on the 2nd weekend of September, the Grape and Wine festival marks an absolute highlight. For three days, the city transforms into an international festival including colourful show band parades, magnificent fireworks, the festive coronation of the wine queen, a folkloric parade and much more!
Between Grevenmacher and Mertert, on the left bank of the Moselle, you will find Luxembourg's only inland port. It combines three modes of transport: inland waterway, rail and road transport.
