Berdorf is one of the most important hiking destinations in the Mullerthal Region. Spectacular sandstone rocks, narrow crevices, caves and extensive forests surround the village, making it an ideal starting point for hikes on the Mullerthal Trail and numerous local hiking trails.
Berdorf is situated on a plateau in the Mullerthal Region and is one of the region's most important hiking destinations. An impressive rocky landscape with massive sandstone formations, narrow crevices, caves and extensive forests surrounds the village.
Route 2 of the Mullerthal Trail leads through this fascinating landscape and directly through Berdorf. Some of the best-known rock formations in the area include Perekop, Huel Lee and Priedegtstull. Narrow paths and passages between the rocks take hikers deep into the characteristic sandstone landscape of the Mullerthal Region.
One particularly interesting site is Huel Lee, a man-made rock cave. The Romans already extracted stone here for construction purposes. During the Middle Ages, millstones were cut from the sandstone, leaving traces that can still be clearly seen today. Right next to Huel Lee is the Breechkaul amphitheatre, which was also shaped by the former extraction of millstones.
In addition to the Mullerthal Trail, Berdorf offers an extensive network of local circular hiking trails. The routes lead through forests, across the plateau and past numerous rock formations and viewpoints, offering everything from shorter walks to longer hikes.
Berdorf also offers a variety of accommodation for longer stays. Hotels, campsites and other accommodation options make the village an ideal base for a hiking or active holiday and for exploring the rocky landscape and extensive trail network over several days.
