Moien! Welcome to Luxembourg!

Hiking between castles and scenic attractions

Step by step into Luxembourg’s best trails

Luxembourg is one of Europe's most rewarding hiking destinations – and the trail network speaks for itself. Whether you are chasing a real athletic challenge or simply looking to slow down and breathe in the forest air, there is a route for every level of fitness and experience.

The certified network of internationally recognised quality hiking trails makes that adventure easy to step into. Two routes carry the 'Leading Quality Trails – Best of Europe' label: the Mullerthal Trail through surreal rock formations and mossy gorges in Luxembourg's Little Switzerland, and the Escapardenne Lee and Éislek Trail, linking the Luxembourgish and Belgian Ardennes across vast forests and sweeping plateaus. The northern Éislek region goes even further, recognised as Europe's first 'Leading Quality Region – Best of Europe' – a mark of the all-round experience it delivers. Beyond these highlights, more than 150 circular routes spread across all five regions, Comfort Trails welcome hikers of all abilities, and the Dream Loops along the Moselle River wind through the country's most picturesque vineyards.

From the centrally located capital, every region is easy to reach – also by public transport, which is completely free throughout the Grand Duchy. So put your backpack on, lace up your shoes, and get going. A castle or a fortress will find you along the way, peeking out from behind the treetops or rising from an impressive rock wall.

In need of nourishment? Hungry hikers can look forward to a wealth of Luxembourgish specialities – because in Luxembourg, the great outdoors and the good life always go hand in hand.
