Open Days at Cercle Cité

Where? 2, Place d'Armes, L-1136 Luxembourg Art, Culture & Literature

As part of the European Heritage Days

Location : Cercle Cité, main entrance Place d'Armes

On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, Cercle Cité will open its doors to the public this year on September 27 and 28.

During these two days, guided tours in four languages and a collaborative workshop will be offered, inviting everyone to explore and reimagine the architectural history of this iconic building.

More than just a structure, Cercle Cité is a true “memory in stone,” whose architecture embodies key turning points in Luxembourg’s and Europe’s history.

Located in the heart of the capital, on Place d’Armes, Cercle Cité is now a cultural center where heritage meets contemporary creation. Built between 1904 and 1905, it bears witness to Luxembourg's social life at the beginning of the 20th century. Its walls have seen major events unfold: from the dark hours of the Nazi occupation to the celebrations of liberation, and even the early days of European integration with meetings of the High Authority of the ECSC – the forerunner of the European Union.

Its architecture goes beyond its façade: it reflects the aspirations, conflicts, and rebirths of a nation.

For ages 6 and up

As part of the European Heritage Days, the Cercle Cité is opening its doors to visitors of all ages, inviting you to take part in a collaborative creative workshop. Back in 1904, some of the greatest architects from the Greater Region submitted plans for the “Nouveau Cercle” (New Cercle), and this workshop offers you the chance to reinvent the façade of the Cercle Cité. Futuristic, unconventional or even utopian... Let your imagination run free and help shape a new vision of this iconic building in the heart of Luxembourg City.

Free entry, no registration required
