Ons Arméi um Härebierg
A journey through the evolution of the Luxembourg Army
80 Years of the Luxembourg Post-War Army
In July 1945, the first Luxembourg conscripts of the post-war army began their service — marking a historic new beginning after the devastation of the Second World War. Ten years later, on 10 July 1955, soldiers moved into the newly built barracks on the Härebierg — which remains the heart of the army to this day.
.
The exhibition sheds light on developments since 1943: Luxembourg’s contribution to the Allied forces with volunteers in the Belgian Brigade Piron, the arduous reconstruction of the army, its integration into the state and society, as well as the development of military infrastructure.
