Attractive inside and out
Your tour starts at Villa Vauban, which has its very own tram stop for your convenience. Our LuxembourgPass will give you free entry to explore the current exhibitions at this museum in a magnificent urban villa.
The ‘Casino Luxembourg – Forum d'art contemporain' is home to fascinating temporary exhibitions showcasing contemporary art far removed from the mainstream as well as a library and restaurant. Admission is free.
The ‘Lëtzebuerg City Museum’ explores the history of the city and the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your ticket to this interactive experience across four historic buildings is free with the LuxembourgPass.
Bringing history to life
The ‘Nationalmusée um Fëschmaart', right at the heart of the old town, houses collections relating to the archaeology, history and art of Luxembourg. The past is brought to life one period at a time here at the National Museum of Archaeology, History and Art. Get your ticket for free with the LuxembourgPass.
Walk on and take the elevator down from the Saint-Esprit-Plateau to the ‘Naturmusée’. The National Museum of Natural History is the perfect place to visit if you’re hoping to learn more about our planet and nature. Your ticket is free when you have a LuxembourgPass.
Walk this way or take public transport
Head over the city’s hills to the Kirchberg Plateau to visit the last two museums on the 'MuseumSmile'. You can walk there (just make sure you have comfy shoes on!) and spot all the exceptional street art in public spaces on the way. Or you can make the most of the free public transport in the city. Check out the travel options, distances and times on our VisitLuxembourg app.
Old and new walls
Old fortress walls and a wonderful view of the city from the Kirchberg Plateau await at the ‘Musée Dräi Eechelen'. The fortress museum is located inside the restored keep of Fort Thüngen, which was originally built in 1732. Learn all about the history of Luxembourg and its fortress from the late Middle Ages until it was dismantled in 1867 in the permanent exhibition.
Just a stone’s throw away from the fortress museum is the Mudam Museum of Modern Art, which is an architectural work of art in itself. The permanent exhibition and temporary exhibitions showcase modern art in the building designed by star architect Ieoh Ming Pei. Your ticket price is free when you have a LuxembourgPass.
Food and drink along the way
As you might expect, there are plenty of opportunities to take a break from the tour and enjoy a bite to eat – in the old town, in the Grund district and at the end of the tour on the Kirchberg Plateau. With all kinds of restaurants, cafés and markets in Luxembourg City, you won’t struggle to find food to match your appetite and your budget. Now, will you savour a comforting traditional dish or indulge in exquisite haute cuisine?
