Description
Over slightly more than 27 kilometers, the “Mam Vëlo iwwer Kopp an Dall” tour leads you through the northern parts of the Minett region. From Bascharage, you first ride south towards Sanem, before taking a large arc towards Bettange-sur-Mess to the north. The route includes a number of climbs, but also shady, wooded sections where you can catch your breath again. From Bettange-sur-Mess, you ride on to Schouweiler, before the route arcs again down to Hautcharage. From here, a new route takes you accross Linger, crossing the Chiers, and towards Pétange, where you'll follow the flow of the Mierbaach towards your starting-point at “Op Acker”.
Alternatively, you can start in Pétange at the train station and take a short alternative route to rejoin the main loop.

Directions

Start off from the “Op Acker” school car park in Bascharage, heading south. Take care when crossing the main road! Follow the PC6 cycle path to Sanem, past Sanem Castle, as far as the industrial area. Here you turn off left and follow the cycle paths along Rue Kallekerbësch and Rue Uerschterhaff, until you turn off left back towards Sanem at the Arsdorferhaff farm. Shortly after, you will hit the PC9 cycle path, which you follow for a while until taking a left turn half-way to Limpach and heading towards Schouweiler. Following this regional cycle path, you reach the junction just before Sprinkange, where you turn right towards Bettange-sur-Mess/Dippach-Gare. In the village, the route takes you along the main road to Sprinkange and then onwards on traffic-calmed roads to Schouweiler. Warning: in Schouweiler, the route briefly crosses the heavily-used Route de Longwy. Via Rue du Neuf Septembre and Schéiferwee, the route leads upwards for a final time into a wooded area, before taking two left turns in quick succession and bringing you into Hautcharage.
From here, the route briefly heads north again and joins a cycle path that leads you past the forest and along the Lieu-dit "Schack" to Linger, and then on to Pétange. Following the route of the former Attert Line, you enter the center of Pétange before continuing along quiet streets back towards Bascharage. Take care at the roundabout before Bascharage, as you will cross regular traffic here. Afterwards, the route follows the "Mierbaach" back to the starting point "Op Acker" in Bascharage.
Alternatively, the tour can also begin and end at the train station in Pétange. To do this, follow the signs towards Bascharage along the "Schwaarze Wee" to the northeast, until you reach the intersection with the Route de Luxembourg and the former Attert Line. Follow this briefly, and after a few meters you will reach the route described above, heading east towards Bascharage. From here, the route leads counter-clockwise, as described above, back to the starting point.
For your safety
There are no road closures on this route, so please keep a lookout for traffic at all times. Even on traffic-calmed roads, always follow the Highway code and be aware that residents and tractors might cross your route.
Equipment
Make sure your bike is safe to ride. Always carry a spare inner tube, tyre levers and a pump. A helmet and good lighting are also important. Don't forget to take a water bottle and a basic tool kit for minor repairs. Bring suitable clothing and food.
