Den Escher Bio Geméisguart
Where? Rue Dieswee, L-4173 Esch-sur-Alzette
The Bio Geméisguart in Esch combines social, environmental and economic aspects with organic vegetable production.
A pilot project for the production of organic vegetables, aimed in particular at the kitchens of the Maisons Relais of Esch, which were established by the government in 2005 to offer activities, help with homework, provide meals and supervision to children aged 3 to 12. They are often attached or located near a school, so parents can drop their children as early as 7am and pick up them up by 7pm.
The objectives of the Escher Geméisguart:
The main idea is that the production of vegetables is part of a development that reconciles social, environmental and economic aspects within a better society.
At the social level, the objective is to provide quality organically grown food, and to make it accessible to the greatest number of citizens.
Awareness raising activities are organised on site, in schools, and high schools to help children and adults discover and become aware of the environment and healthy eating.
The building with its surrounding allotments, community gardens, and grocery shop are open to all those interested in the theme of food and environmental justice.
