Chapel Eenelter

A chapel has been standing on this site since the early Christian age. The Eenelt chapel was first mentioned in a document in 1180. Market rights were already in force at that time, making it one of the oldest markets in Luxembourg. A new chapel was consecrated in 1751. It fell into disrepair during the French Revolution. The current chapel was built in 1897 in honour of Saints Donatus and Theobald on a hill near the Menhir overlooking Mersch. It has undergone extensive restoration work in 1996.
