Discover Luxembourg by Gravel

The joy of exploring the great outdoors

Set off on a gravel biking adventure in Luxembourg against the backdrop of forests, hills, rock formations and vineyards and experience the joy of exploring the great outdoors. Speed is not of the essence here. Instead, take the time to enjoy the moment as your tyres roll gently over the gravel, admire the view across the valleys, stop for a break by the woodland and soak up the sun up high. Gravel biking in Luxembourg is all about immersing yourself in nature and exploring the country at your own pace.

Prepare to be amazed at how quickly the landscape changes as you cover ground. You don’t need to travel far to pass through the country’s five tourism regions, each with their own unique charm and character. The Éislek region in the north of Luxembourg is home to more challenging routes covering plenty of altitude. But the tough climbs are rewarded with spectacular views, enchanting forests and castles towering high above the valleys. Down in the Guttland region, rolling hills, expansive highlands and open landscapes await, holding the promise of leisurely gravel adventures and space to stop and breathe. The routes along the Moselle take you through vineyards and charming wine-growing villages – always accompanied by a view of the river that shapes the region. Every route tells its own story – and together they make for a varied gravel biking destination at the heart of Europe.

One special event shows that Luxembourg is making a name for itself in gravel biking globally. A UCI gravel race was held here for the first time in 2025 – a qualifier for the UCI Gravel World Series. Around 1,500 racers made their way to the start line in Vianden from over 30 countries and made the race a sporting highlight with a warm community feel. The event is due to return in June 2026, bringing together gravel bike enthusiasts from all around the world once again.

Athletic challenge or a leisurely ride

Luxembourg ticks all the boxes for active adventurers exploring on two wheels. There’s no shortage of bed&bike establishments offering secure bike parking, handy tools and practical services tailored specifically to cyclists on the move. You can also make the most of the free public transport to combine start and finish points, creating your own longer routes or making spontaneous changes along the way.
