How can we transform what already exists? How can we give a building a new lease of life? How can we bring its history to life in a different way? What kind of dialogue can we create between the old and the new without distorting the identity and heritage value of the site?
The challenge is a big one: to imagine new transformations for the Casino Luxembourg building. To understand the building, the children first carry out an observation exercise to identify the characteristic features of its architecture. They then highlight these by creating a model of its facades, with their extraordinary proportions!
All that remains is to imagine the interior layout, with new spaces and perhaps new uses for the building! The aim is to reflect on how a heritage site can evolve and adapt to today’s needs without losing what makes it so rich and distinctive.
