This is your “Vëlosummer”!
Have you got your bike and helmet ready?
During the month of August, you have the unique opportunity to cycle on different roads free of cars throughout the country. Numerous road sections will be exclusively for cyclists for a weekend or in some cases even the whole month of August.
Experience new cycling routes together with other fellow cyclists and (re)discover new parts of Luxembourg. Whether it is a day out with family, friends or visitors, “Vëlosummer” has all the ingredients for a fun and safe cycling adventure.
The Ministry of Mobility and Public Works and the General Directorate for Tourism of the Ministry of the Economy selected the following 6 tours:
Route A: VëloViaNorden
Route B: Mamer-Keispelt-Kopstal
Route C: Through the Mamer and Alzette valleys
Route D: Through the Syre and Alzette valleys
Route E: Guttland and Moselle tour
Route F: Cycle express Belval-Luxembourg
- The Highway Code also applies to roads closed to vehicular through traffic. We remind you to keep on the right hand side of the road and to observe road signs and traffic lights.
- Bicycles should be placed in the designated storage sections of trains and regional buses
- The “Vëlosummer” routes are NOT signposted as such, but only shown on maps. The map can be ordered here below.
Why not combine Vëlosummer with an overnight stay? If you are cycling or hiking, the new luggage service movewecarry.lu will transport your luggage from one accommodation to the next, all free of charge.
Don’t forget to use the “50 EUR “- overnight vouchers, distributed at the start of the national tourism campaign “Lëtzebuerg – Dat ass Vakanz”. The vouchers can be redeemed at all participating establishments. Bed & Bike labelled accommodation fulfill every cyclist's needs.
