The “Réimertour” takes you through the districts of Bertrange and Strassen, along old Roman roads on the Reims (F) – Arlon (B) – Trier (GER) axis. Tossenberg, Rue du Kiem and Rue des Romains are part of this axis, which was created under the leadership of the Roman general Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa as the road network was being expanded. The name Strassen comes from the Latin word “strata”, meaning street, and it dates back to the early days of the Roman era. Remains of the Roman road were discovered in 1960 when Rue du Kiem was being constructed, and further reminders of this time can be found along the route.
This family-friendly circular tour also takes in sights in the two towns of Bertrange and Strassen. Discover their unique town centres, stop off at one of the many terraces or play areas in the shared space outside the town halls, and enjoy the fresh country air on the rural roads between Bertrange, Mamer and Strassen.
