[NA]
Improviser, oser, désobéir
One girl, two guys. Disobedient and full of energy. She hits drums - and it suits her just fine. The other two play baritone guitar and saxophone. And a good dose of effects, too. Not just for show - they sound great. This jazz-punk-internationalist trio draws on a wide range of influences. Their first stop? The Ethiopia of The Ex and Getatchew Mekuria. Then they veer off to greet the Dead Kennedys, Jaimie Branch, and the Lounge Lizards - pulling from each some haunted lyricism, some electric bite, and plenty of wild invention. Solid references, no doubt. But make no mistake - [Na] doesn’t lack personality. These three musicians are stubborn - in the best possible way: fierce, generous, and uncompromising. With Selma, laureate of the Propulsion/LEAD program supported by neimënster, the trio embodies a raw, instinctive energy that’s as free as it is sincere. Their first EP was recorded in 2023 in Rodolphe Burger’s legendary barn in Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines, and in 2024 [Na] was selected as one of the four laureates of Jazz Migration #10. And yes - they write their name in brackets. No reason. It just suits them.
