Rachmaninov & other Romantics

Where? 1, Place de l’Europe, L-1499 Luxembourg Music Festivals

Paavo Järvi & Bruce Liu

How far would you go to become the best in the world? It is said that 19th-century violin sensation Niccolò Paganini sold his soul to the devil in order to become the greatest virtuoso ever. His legacy inspired Sergueï Rachmaninov to write a piece in a similar virtuosic vein, based on a famous theme the «Devil’s violinist» had once composed. Rising star Hans Rott on the other hand had the potential to become best in class, had his life not been cut tragically short in 1884. An evening of genius awaits, as we embrace the sounds of these Romantics!..
