18th Central and Eastern European Film Festival

During the 18th edition of CinEast, the Central and Eastern European Film Festival in Luxembourg, audiences will enjoy a broad selection of some of the best recent films produced in more than 20 countries of the former Eastern Bloc. In addition to over 120 screenings in cinemas, CinEast will also make an exciting selection of films available online.

Between 10 and 26 October, more than 65 feature films and 50 short films of all genres will be screened in Luxembourg at the Cercle Cité (screenings organised by the Cinémathèque de la Ville de Luxembourg), Ciné Utopia, Kinepolis Kirchberg, Neimënster, Ancien Cinema (Vianden) and other venues in and around the city.

.

This year, the festival presents a Focus on Poland, with numerous screenings of recent films from and about Poland, a Polish evening, an exhibition of a Polish photography project, numerous Polish guests and several concerts with Polish artists.

CinEast 2025 will welcome over 35 international guests who will meet audiences in cinemas during Q&A sessions after selected screenings, and take part in several ciné-debates. Numerous programmes for young audiences are also on the festival menu, as well as opportunities to taste some traditional Eastern European food and drinks.

The festival’s thematic cycle ‘Disruptions’. will be reflected through several films and an extensive photographic exhibition (Neimënster) on the subject of disruptions within our societies.

Various musical events will complement the festival programme. They include the Opening concert with the Romanian brass orchestra Fanfare Ciocărlia (10/10, Melusina), a live soundtrack to a silent film by the Ukrainian duo Misha Kalinin and Roksana Smirnova (12/10, Neimënster), a jazz concert by Pawlik & Pawlik Duo featuring the Grammy Award winner Włodek Pawlik and local drummer Jeff Herr (17/10, Neimënster) and a jazzy matinée with The Tony Lakatos Organ-ization (19/10, Neimënster). The festival’s Closing Event will be celebrated by the energetic Polish band Bubliczki (24/10, Rotondes).

Continuing the charity initiative launched in 2022, the Festival organisers will be collecting donations for the charity project ‘CinEast4Ukraine’ that aims to help the victims of the war in Ukraine.
