Randonnée guidée à travers la réserve naturelle du Stromberg // Geführte Wanderung durch das Naturschutzgebiet Stromberg // Guided hike through the Stromberg nature reserve

On 14 June 1985, representatives of Luxembourg, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, and Germany signed the Schengen Agreement on the passenger ship ‘Princesse Marie-Astrid’, which was one of the most important steps on the road to European unification:
the abolition of intra-European border controls on the movement of people and goods between the signatories.

Today, the wine-growing town of Schengen is synonymous with a borderless Europe.

Get to know Schengen from a different perspective

During this hike over the Stromberg, where the border between Luxembourg and France runs,
you will experience borderless Europe up close.

Above Schengen, in the nature reserve, various protected plant species can be seen depending on the season.

Through the natural forest, you reach the high plateau where several forest windows open to reveal views of the Moselle valley,
such as the winegrowing village of Contz-les-Bains or the fortress of Sierck-les-Bains on the opposite bank.

A trained guide will lead you through the nature reserve
and explain both the development and significance of the Schengen Agreement
as well as the historical cultural landscape of the nature reserve.

After the hike, you will reach the ‘Princess Marie-Astrid Europa’,
where you can toast to a successful hike in the border triangle with a glass of wine or grape juice.

The price also includes free admission to the refurbished museum.
