EVENT : Know your Brain

Where? 1, rue John Ernest Dolibois, L-4573 Differdange Other, Art, Culture & Literature

Come discover the wonders of the brain

The human brain is one of the most fascinating organs… and one of the most mysterious! It controls our movements, our thoughts, our emotions, and even our memory. But what does it really look like? And what can we do to ensure that it functions as well as possible throughout our lives?

Come discover the wonders of the brain on August 20 at the Luxembourg Science Center during our “Know Your Brain” day. On the agenda: interactive games, immersive experiences, and workshops to better understand how our brains adapt, learn, and evolve.

You will learn how to keep your neurons in shape, test your fine motor skills, discover the effects of certain neurodegenerative diseases, and explore practical tools for maintaining your brain health on a daily basis.

For younger children: sensory activities, puzzles, and science games to uncover the mysteries of the brain while having fun.

.

ON THE PROGRAM:.

  • WORKSHOP – Mind the brain by LCSB: What does our brain look like? What can we do to ensure that our neurons stay healthy? Discover some answers to these questions by putting together a brain puzzle and competing in a board game on prevention of brain diseases.

  • WORKSHOP – Wire the brain by SCIENTEENS LAB: Our brain is a fascinating organ. Neurons form an intricate network working a bit like an orchestra. But what happens if this orchestra loses some players as it is the case in Parkinson’s disease? Discover how quickly your brain can adapt to new situations, experience the symptoms of Parkinson’s patients and test your fine motor skills.

  • WORKSHOP – by GetBrainHealthy: The plan is to integrate 3 key messages 1) Demystify the brain by offering a short game / sensory station focused on brain characteristics—how the brain looks, feels, and smells. 2) Emphasize neuroplasticity at any age by debunking the neuromyth "you can't teach an old dog new tricks, ".  3) Explain the role of cognitive reserve by incorporating a game on positive and negative brain health habits, linking this to our GetBrainHealthy Tool and in-person workshops designed for parents.

Whether you are curious, a student, or simply concerned about your health, this day will immerse you in the exciting world of neuroscience and prevention.
