Chantal Maquet : Echos Saisonniers

Breathing out is followed by breathing in, day gives way to night and the seasons follow one another – an infinite cycle in which planets orbit around suns that move through the Milky Way at breathtaking speed. A rhythm that encompasses everything. Or does it?

What significance do the seasons still have for our lives, beyond mere leisure planning? In an urbanised world, in which our everyday lives largely take place in air-conditioned indoor spaces, under artificial light or even in virtual spaces, we often lose touch with this natural change.

.

‘Échos Saisonniers’ draws attention back to the changing seasons that are typical of our latitudes. In her works, Chantal Maquet explores the moods and emotions associated with each season and transitional phase. She invites us not to view the changes as mere background noise, but to listen consciously – to encounter the colour tones and timbres. In the four corridors of the cloister, the exhibition tells the story of the four seasons.
