Zwëschent Welten
Zwëschent Welten
cube #17 - Viktoria Vanyi (HU/LU)
Zwëschent Welten is a sculptural light installation exploring the in-between spaces of identity, language, and belonging. Inspired by a childhood memory of a quote from Goethe – “As many languages you know, as many times you are a human being”
– the work reflects on how each language spoken reveals another self. This dual presence – the word and its reflection – evokes the fragmented nature of diasporic identity: never fully grasped in the present, always refracted through memory, migration, and interpretation.
The work suggests that understanding, like belonging, is never immediate. It is indirect, relational, and shaped by where we stand. In this way, Zwëschent Welten becomes less a phrase than a mirror: of voice, of distance, and of the quiet tension of living between what is said and what is meant.
