Unveiling of the Zakhor monument

.

.

The Town of Esch is upgrading the Synagogue Square. The memorial stones bearing the names of Jewish victims are to be restored and updated. In addition, an information panel will be installed.

Following an initiative by the Auschwitz Committee, the Zakhor monument (Hebrew for ‘Remember!’), created by the German artist Ralf Kotschka, has been added to the memorial site. It consists of a bronze suitcase symbolising deportation to the ghettos and death camps.
