OFF THE RADAR #4
Nout + LANDROSE + Sunflowers
NOUT
.
In Nout, one can hear the name of the sky goddess who, in Egyptian mythology, swallows the sun each night only to release it the next morning. But one can also hear “nous” (French for “we”), evoking the moment when an individual reconnects with the collective. Bridging the gap between Nirvana and Sun Ra, the trio of musicians pushes their instruments to the limit with the enthusiasm of a mad scientist before his flasks. Flute, harp, drums: a rare combination that they turn upside down. Inspired by John Zorn’s experiments at the edges of jazz and noise, Nout imagines its pieces as full-blown cinematic adventures: one moment you’re in Alien, the next in Indiana Jones; you start with your eyes closed in red seats and end pogoing on the dance floor.
LANDROSE
LANDROSE is the solo project of David Temprano, also a member of the band Cere. Fusing electronic and experimental music with sampling and noise-punk-influenced drumming, he explores bold sounds and a unique musical universe. After his self-titled debut EP in 2022 and his first album Saveur Pey in 2024, LANDROSE returns with the new album BRUT on Hyperjungle Recordings. The album was shaped through live performances, with tracks evolving with each show. It presents a more refined and energetic vision of the project, highlighting compositions that blend live spontaneity with the intensity of solo performance. On stage, David delivers raw, immersive energy while staying true to a DIY and authentic approach.
SUNFLOWERS
.
Sunflowers was born in 2014 in Porto, founded by Carlos de Jesus and Carolina Brandão. From 60s-inspired garage rock to a raw mix of noise rock and art punk, the band offers a unique live experience, both chaotic and liberating. They have performed on over 500 stages in more than 20 countries, captivating audiences at every show. Behind the apparent chaos lies a clear vision: to push the boundaries of rock and inspire experimentation and authenticity.
