Invitation to the presentation: EARTH FOR ALL – Launching into a future for all

Amid numerous crises and increasingly heated public debates, more and more people risk losing hope for a better future. The challenges seem overwhelming, and it appears increasingly difficult to tackle all crises together.

To get a grip on certain problems, political actors — including the Luxembourg government — want to rely on the supposedly universal tool of “economic growth.” The assumption is: we need more growth in order to afford ambitious climate and social policies. But is this true? And is such growth even compatible with ecological goals?

How can different societal objectives realistically be linked? For which developments is there majority support? And is politics still capable and willing to take action?

In 2022, a team of renowned experts from the Club of Rome and the Wuppertal Institute demonstrated in a groundbreaking global study what future pathways could look like: the fatal route of “business as usual,” or a bold course of genuine transformation. Since then, country-specific analyses have been developed, including the 2024 German study in cooperation with the Wuppertal Institute. The central questions are applicable to many countries — including Luxembourg — while parallel scenarios are being developed for numerous other states.

Their message is clear: social progress and sustainability can reinforce one another. Only if we address them together will we develop effective solutions that benefit everyone.

A compelling wake-up call with scientifically grounded and concrete perspectives

• for combating inequality and poverty

• for real gender equality

• for responsible agriculture and food systems

• for the energy transition

• for the sustainable use of resources.

Join us for this inspiring conference presented by one of the study’s authors, Till Kellerhoff.

Earth4All is an international initiative bringing together leading climate experts, economists and scientists from around the world. In 2022, they published the global report Earth for All: A Survival Guide for Humanity.

The study is backed by two renowned actors in this field:

The Club of Rome, known for its pioneering work on sustainable development. In 1972, it published the influential book The Limits to Growth. The Wuppertal Institute, for its part, published—following the Rio Conference—the first study outlining what a sustainable future could look like.

The Club of Rome is one of the world’s best-known think tanks. Founded in 1968, it is dedicated to shaping a sustainable future. Its members include experts from over 30 countries across diverse disciplines. The non-profit organization became widely known through its report The Limits to Growth, which sold millions of copies.

The Wuppertal Institute is an independent, application-oriented research institute for sustainability and transformation research. Since its founding in 1991, it has significantly shaped national and international debates on climate, energy and resource issues. A particular focus of its work lies in designing transformation processes towards a climate-just and resource-efficient future.
