Love scaling new heights? In Luxembourg, there are in- and outdoor climbing centres and treetop-ropes courses at your fingertips.
Adventure and climbing in Luxembourg
Who would have thought that such a small country would offer so many options for sport and leisure? Luxembourg’s topography naturally provides some great opportunities to get outdoors. Although hiking and MTB are the most popular and easiest to take part in, there are quite a few other sports available.
Rock-climbing is the most obvious of these. This sport, which remains an undiscovered secret to many, builds muscle and endurance, but also reduces stress and stimulates brain function. With regions full of rocks just begging to be scaled, Luxembourg offers some great places for climbing, including the sandstone crag known as Wanterbach, which is located in Berdorf. You’d better do a bit of training before getting started, though! There are several indoor bouldering walls, located all over the country, which offer the chance to learn the techniques without having to contend with the weather. For example, RedRock Climbing Center, in Soleuvre, offers 1,400 m2 of climbing surface in a facility built to Olympic standards.
Treetop-ropes courses are a cool alternative outdoor activity for families, deep in the heart of the forest. Crawl, climb and jump your way past obstacles such as nets, tunnels, suspension bridges and ziplines, all while high off the ground! Depending on your age and level, you can take on easier or harder courses and experience thrilling adventures that are supervised and completely safe.
