Steinfort

The former stronghold of the iron industry, Steinfort, nowadays presents itself as a pretty, small town that proudly looks back on its heyday during the 19th century. Rightly so! If you walk among the industrial remains that are scattered throughout the town’s territory, you can follow the traces of those who were contributing in the country's wealth.

Let's start with the Villa Collart: at the beginning of the last century, a family of factory directors lived in this architectural jewel, which now houses the "Syndicat d'Initiative" and an art gallery on the upper floors. On the ground floor, there is a restaurant honouring the historic pub. Just around the corner, you will find the main building Al Schmelz, a former building of the steel company that has been transformed into a cultural centre.

A little further, you will the majestic Mirador, which was once the control cabin of a lifting device and which is now the seat of a visitor- and an environmental protection centre. From here on, a 14 km long trail leads you on an unforgettable tour to the Schwaarzenhaff nature reserve, which is a part of the Natura 2000 zone “Valley of the Mamer and the Eisch”, Luxembourg's largest habitat zone.

Your adventure will not end there! For lovers of great experiences, the high ropes course Steinfort Adventure offers ten different routes, a picnic area and a wide range of activities under the direction of a young and dynamic team.

The whole Steinforter offer is easily accessible by bike, as the Attert-cycling track is nearby. The Hotel Jacoby in Kleinbettingen also rents out bicycles upon request.
