Tant pis. On rit.

RORETRA de Ioanna Anousaki (porteure de projet TalentLAB 2023) // 8pm-8.20pm

RORETRA depicts a dreamlike journey from mathematical transformations to contemporary dance movements, creating a spacetime in which the performers construct and deconstruct dynamic formulas and create games with geometry. A true encounter between science and choreographic art, this duo seeks fluidity in the theoretical rigidity of precise patterns of rotation, reflection, and translation. The piece focuses on the choreographic language and the emergence of a dialogue with JS Bach’s score. RORETRA will immerse the audience in a poetic exploration of the interconnection of mathematics, forms, and aesthetics.

Ear to Earth de Jenna Vergeynst (porteure de projet TalentLAB 2024) // 8.30pm-8.50pm

The earth, our living soil, is what all earthbound life depends on. It is the basis of our food production system and of biodiversity, it literally roots our living world, it produces clean water, stores carbon and regulates the climate. Its complex structure makes life possible in this air- and light-lacking habitat. The creatures that live in it, on their turn, maintain its life-supporting properties. In this performance, we connect with this vivid darkness through music and sound. A surround soundtrack with sounds of local Luxembourgian soil creates an immersive experience, with low frequencies felt physically throughout the body. The musicians on stage develop these underground sounds into a musical narrative and guide the audience through this otherworldly experience.

The War Trilogy: First Chapter – The Burnt Field d’Elina Kulikova (porteure de projet TalentLAB 2023) // 9pm-9.20pm

Elina Kulikova and Dima Efremov are developing a theatrical triptych exploring the war in Ukraine through three distinct performances, each with its own musical style: classical, folk and pop. The first part, shown on this occasion and developed during TalentLAB 2023, explores the origins of this war. Dima and Elina sing Russian romances from the 19th and 20th centuries, exposing the violence embedded in “great Russian culture”. Instead of translating poems by Pushkin and Lermontov, a personal narrative is projected, revealing a great historical trauma. The play questions how we perceive culture today. Can we listen to Tchaikovsky without thinking of the bombed theatre in Mariupol, where a Russian orchestra later played his concerto among the ruins? The project, launched by the Sens Interdits International Festival, has now become a trilogy. All three parts will be premiered together at the festival in October 2025.
