Did you know that the house Joseph Kutter grew up in was just a few metres from the museum and that the painter’s obsession with portraits runs in the family? Another little-known fact is that Kutter’s cubist residence, considered avant-garde for its time, has just been restored and that the artist’s unique technique requires specific preservation methods. To mark the success of our crowdfunding campaign Klammt mat d'an d'Course! and the acquisition of the iconic painting Le champion, the museum offers a fresh look at its collection by placing Kutter and his many faces at the centre of a new kind of retrospective. The exhibition curators, Lis Hausemer and Muriel Prieur, have opted for a deliberately reduced scenography, reinterpreting the museum's Kutter rooms to illustrate the context in which the painter lived and to give an insight into his creative universe through selected portraits.
