Art Exhibition Falk Schornstheimer, Secondary Roads of Desire

Where? 21A, Avenue Gaston Diderich, L-1420 Luxembourg Art, Culture & Literature

Opening on 25 April @5pm

Falk Schornstheimer's works, most of which are recent, vary and once again deepen the confrontation of previous works with different materials and techniques. Traces of iron shavings, Indian ink and pastel dust are found on oil and acrylic supports. Drawing signatures in chalk, charcoal and pencil leave a kind of writing that cannot be read, but can at most be sensed.

Those who perceive this abstraction as lyrical, transcendent, dreamy, fluid and fragmentary are on their heels.

.

The content doesn't matter, it doesn't even exist. Nothing is told, nothing is represented. Rather, what is offered is a space of possibilities in which each viewer can probe his or her own truth.

With this vagueness and ambiguity, Falk Schornstheimer's painting aims to resist. The rebellion is directed against our overly logical and utilitarian thinking, which conceives of modernity and contemporaneity as a naïve belief in digitalisation, technique and efficiency.

And yet, to quote Baudelaire, ‘modernity is the transitory, the fugitive, the contingent, half of art, the other half of which is the eternal and the immutable.

.

Opening on 25 April from 5pm-8pm with the artist. Exhibition till 24 May
