Playgrounds in Luxembourg
To explore Luxembourg’s playgrounds is to enter a world of pirates, planes and even outer space!
Most beautiful playgrounds in Luxembourg
As Maria Montessori said, “Play is the work of the child”, and that work is essential for children’s development and well-being. If the large number of playgrounds set up all over the country are anything to go by, Luxembourgers love happy, flourishing children.
The playground with the pirate ship in a Luxembourg City public park is still one of the most popular in the capital. A huge wooden ship towers over the swings, slides, sandpits and artificial streams – kids love this playground and it has a very friendly atmosphere. There are other themed playgrounds to check out in Luxembourg City: the airport one in Cents, the farm one in Gasperich, the castle one in Belair and the outer space one in Kaltreis Park. Still in the capital, Merl Park, with its pretty duckpond, is the perfect place for anyone looking for a wide selection of games for all ages, as are the playground located right in the heart of Bambësch Forest and the one next to the lake in Kockelscheuer.
Luckily, Luxembourg City doesn’t have a monopoly on playgrounds. In the south, Gaalgebierg Park, in Esch-sur-Alzette, has numerous games that can be played, a climbing wall and, in winter, a natural skating rink. For water-based games, head to the playground in Laval Park, also in Esch-sur-Alzette. Mersch Park has several playgrounds, but also a pond with lots of fish and birds. Last but not least, you can find a playground and a trampoline park around Lake Echternach. With so much on offer, it will be hard to choose!
