The crème de la crème. of Italian opera La Scala in Milan has long been synonymous with operatic excellence. The theater has been the stage of historic world premieres, such as Gioachino Rossini’s La gazza ladra. or Giuseppe Verdi’s Otello. Both Italian composers enjoyed resounding successes here, building up their reputation and that of the opera house. It therefore seems only natural that the artists of the Teatro alla Scala present in this concert a selection of opera choruses by Verdi and Rossini, led by Riccardo Chailly.
