L'Enfant-Soldat née Musique
Artistic residency
Deze inhoud is helaas niet in het Nederlands beschikbaar. From 14 to 24 June, the team of the project "L'ENFANT-SOLDAT née MUSIQUE" will be in residence at the Kufa. This project will become a musical tale inspired by the life of Oumar Kouyaté, singer and musician, and will be written and directed by Serge Wolfsperger.
In the streets of an African megalopolis, mopeds, cars, carts, motorbike backfires, the cries of merchants and animals build a permanent symphony. A child soldier, a girl about 12, lives in this acoustic capranoea. Unwillfully enrolled, she was forced to flee the war. By day, she transforms the city's sounds into heavenly songs, as the dark melodies of the sounds of war assailed her at night. This child is gifted with exceptional hearing. It was said that she sang in her mother's womb. She no longer remembers her mother. The war has taken away her memory. She doesn't remember since as the street became her home, the fishmonger her aunt, the café owner her uncle. From the way of life was born the Enfant-Musique. Or rather the Enfant-Oreilles. One day, when she sees her image in shards of glass, she discovers two monstrous ears sticking out of her head. Thanks to these disproportionate ears, the child soldier hears the beauty of the world, the music of the city perceived as a deafening din...
The story of the Enfant-Soldat will be told by actors and musicians They will play the characters, setting the scene and leading the action. A DJ will mix pre-recorded sound samples. From their dialogue will emerge the sound and musical score of the renaissance through the music of the Enfant-Soldat née-Musique.
End of residency: Saturday 24 June at 17:30h (Doors: 17:00) at Ratelach
