Ettelbruck

Where? 5, Rue Abbé Muller, L-9065 Ettelbruck

Ettelbruck, the centre of the Nordstad, combines shopping, café culture and street art. The lively pedestrian zone attracts many visitors. One of the highlights of the year is the ‘Foire Agricole’ agricultural fair.

Ettelbruck: A city of culture
Located in the north of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Ettelbruck is the nerve centre of the Nordstad region. Locals and visitors alike appreciate the many shops in the town's pedestrian zone. Many shops, restaurants and cafés can be found in the Grand-Rue and adjacent alleyways. The annual Ettelbruck Agricultural Fair is the country's largest agricultural event. It attracts thousands of people every year.

A desire to promote street art

In recent years, Ettelbruck has become a hotbed of street art in Luxembourg. A number of Luxembourg and international artists have created works on many of the town's walls. Each of them is dedicated to a particular subject and conveys a message. During a "Street Art Tour", organised by the Ettelbruck City Tourist Office in collaboration with Visit Éislek, participants can discover these creations.

The General Patton Memorial Museum

Another cultural highlight is the General Patton Memorial Museum. It pays tribute to the famous American general who liberated the town from German occupation during the Second World War. The museum offers an interesting insight into this key period in the town's history. Ettelbruck also has a Patton Square, where a statue of the famous officer stands.

CAPE: A cultural centre in the north of the country

The CAPE (Centre des Arts Pluriels) is one of the most important cultural centres in the north of Luxembourg. Its programme offers a wide range of cultural activities, from music to visual arts and dance. There's something for all ages and tastes. The centre also works with regional partners to raise its profile and support local associations and young artists.

A town nestling in unspoilt nature

Although Ettelbruck has an urban feel, the surrounding countryside is a paradise for cyclists and hikers. Numerous routes criss-cross the area, including the PC15 cycle path, which runs alongside the Alzette and leads to the Mullerthal. When it comes to hiking, the Escapardenne Lee Trail is a must. Certified as a Leading Quality Trail by the European Hiking Association, it crosses the wild landscapes of the Éislek in three stages, the first of which starts at Ettelbruck station. You can also continue the adventure with the Escapardenne Éislek Trail, which joins Belgium in five additional stages.

Families with children will love the Waldbaden trail. The Um Kalleksuewen leisure centre offers panoramic views over the town. Where lime was once burnt, there is now a playground and picnic area, perfect for enjoying nature for a few hours.

A road junction with optimum public transport links

Thanks to its central location – just 20 minutes by car from Luxembourg City – and its excellent public transport links, Ettelbruck is a major mobility hub in the north of the country. By train, you can cross the whole of the Éislek to reach Belgium. The many bus routes linking Ettelbruck with its surroundings also make the town an excellent base for exploring the region. Vianden, Diekirch, Colmar-Berg, Schieren, Clervaux, Troisvierges and Esch-sur-Sûre are all within easy reach.

Another advantage is that public transport is free throughout the country.

Accommodation in Ettelbruck

Ettelbruck offers several accommodation options, including hotels and a campsite. Ideal for spending a few days in town and exploring the country from this central location.
