As the recipient of the Baloise Art Prize 2024, Tiffany Sia presents a solo exhibition at Mudam, and her first Artist Talk in Europe - a unique opportunity to get to know the artist and gain a deeper insight into the exhibition.
The event will begin with a screening of Sia’s latest work, A Child Already Knows (2024), a short film that appropriates animation archives from the early Mao era with the story and comments of a child who had to escape Shanghai with their family. As memories are told and the fragmented images unfold, the viewer dives into the narrator’s complex experience as well as a reflection on History, and the role of cinema and representations to construct imaginaries.
Following the screening Tiffany Sia will join the stage to discuss the film, the works on view in the exhibition and her creative practice. The audiences will get to learn more about the artist’s inspirations, references and processes, and engage in direct exchange with her.
