The roman Vicus Ricciacus was founded around 18 BC on the Via Agrippa. The excavations of a former living quarter and the theater can be visited.
The roman settlement of Vicus Ricciacus was founded on the Via Agrippa joining the Mediterranean via Lyon, Metz, Trier, to Maiz and Cologne. Established around 18 BC by Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa as a resting place and staging post on the site of a previous Treverian settlement. In 70/71 AD, the settlement area was reorganised and the wooden buildings were replaced by stone structures. From its former residential & commercial quarters, temples, theater and bath, the public can nowadays access excavations of a former living quarter and the theater.
