“Sudstroum Escher Kulturlaf 2022”

In the cultural year Esch 2022, the “Sudstroum Escher Kulturlaf” will also have a special character: In addition to the classic courses of 10 kilometres and 10 miles (16 kilometres), a half-marathon (21,1 kilometres) will be included for the first time in the programme of this traditional event.

On Saturday, September 3rd, the race will start at the town hall square. Depending on the distance chosen, the runners will not only discover the centre of Esch-sur-Alzette and its cultural institutions. They will also visit the neighbouring municipalities of Sanem/Belvaux and Schifflange.

In addition, the course will pass by three different sites of the iron industry: Next to the still producing ArcelorMittal factory, the riders will discover Belval, where a university and a new district have been built around the restored blast furnaces and have a look at the industrial wasteland of Arbed Esch-Schifflange, which will also be radically changed soon.

The finish of the three races will be at the “Bâtiment 4” near the “Schlassgoart”. After the prize-giving ceremony for the winners, runners and spectators will be able to end the evening at the “Nuit de la Culture” at the same place.
