Only a stone's throw away from Sandweiler are the motorway network, the train station and the airport. This self-proclaimed outpost of the city of Luxembourg is a beautiful excursion destination that invites you to dwell. Thanks to its location in the middle of forests and the countryside, this modern municipality and its multicultural population have succeeded in preserving the town’s rural character and proud heritage.

A 7 km long circular hiking trail addresses the subject of the natural springs of the Birelergronn. Richly illustrated information boards explain the history and ecological importance of this interesting area in detail. Another 5 km long circuit starts in Schrassig and leads to the traces of the old mills. Both paths meet in the Neimillen wetland and can thus be interconnected. One of the nature trails bears the name of the company DuPont and leads from the Sandweiler railway station over a distance of 3.8 km to the surrounding peculiarities of nature.

Furthermore, there is a military cemetery in Sandweiler. Here, about 10 900 German soldiers, who died during WWII in the battles on the Luxembourg borders found their final resting place.
