Roman Mosaic Vichten
The municipality of Vichten gained a certain notoriety through the discovery of a Roman mosaic in 1995 depicting Homer within a circle of the nine muses. The mosaic, which was created around 240 A.D., shows the muses in the order determined by Hesiod around 700 BC. The mosaic was created in a workshop in Trier and covered the floor of the reception hall of a Gallo-Roman villa. A copy of the mosaic can be found between the church and the community centre.
