Cycling weekend in three regions

Programme suggestions for travel professionals – Groups and individuals

DAY 1: Minett region and Mondorf Domaine Thermal

Bestemming(en): Moezel, Minett

Morning:

On the trail of sweat and steel

Where furnaces once blasted, sweat was shed and steel was forged: the south of the country still bears the imprint of the iron and steel industry which flourished around 1900. The former wealth of this sector is reflected in newly erected furnaces in Belval, restored colliery sites and the Minett Park Fond-de-Gras. Visiting this former mining region is like stepping back in time. Old equipment, production halls and the railway station are all steeped in history.

Our tip:

Guided MTB tour – Lalléngerbierg-Gaalgebierg

Bike through a former open-cast mine and enjoy a spectacular view of Belval’s blast furnaces and the surrounding region.

DAY 3: Mullerthal region

Bestemming(en): Mullerthal

Mullerthal Region, Luxembourg's Little Switzerland

Hiking and the Mullerthal Trail

The 112 km Mullerthal Trail takes experienced walkers through a magnificent landscape of hills and rock formations. The most striking of these have been given bizarre local names such as Piteschkummer, Geierslee and Huel Lee – to name but a few. The hiking trails in the Mullerthal valley wind their way through unspoilt meadows and woodlands. As well as challenging trails, Mullerthal boasts an extensive network of easier footpaths in equally outstanding scenery.

Morning:

A guided mountain bike tour

The Mountainbike tour Echternach begins at Echternach Lake and leads up into the forest. The route takes you past the fantastic rock formations of the Mullerthal, also known as Luxembourg’s Little Switzerland. The tour begins and ends at the Echternach Youth Hostel. Each tour has two difficulty levels: Tour A and Tour B. Remember to include at least 30 minutes for hiring and setting up bikes.

Followed by

Heringer Millen Tourist Centre – the ideal base for hiking

Want to explore the Mullerthal valley on foot? The Heringer Millen Tourist Centre is the ideal place to begin. You can get maps and information there, as well as the latest outdoor equipment such as walking shoes, which you can borrow free of charge and try out on the internationally renowned Mullerthal Trail. The Tourist Centre now also offers a filled picnic basket which you can rent out for short excursions and a practical picnic rucksack for longer walks. These are filled with local products made by “Mëllerdaller” manufacturers.

Our tip:
