LUCILIN IN THE CITY #8 - Live cinema: Häxan
Deze inhoud is helaas niet in het Nederlands beschikbaar.Häxan ("Witchcraft through the ages"), a 1922 silent film created by Danish director Benjamin Christensen, is a blend of historical documentary and fictional horror film. Controversial for its subject, witchcraft over the centuries, and its daring treatment for its time, the film explores superstitions and unfounded beliefs in an objective tone, combining illustrations - dating back to medieval times - and cinematographic reconstructions.
One hundred and one years after its release, this masterpiece certainly deserves to be rediscovered.
Led by accordionist Frin Wolter, the musicians of Lucilin will be reinventing the film's soundtrack for this new Lucilin in the City event, with six musicians performing live at the Cinémathèque. Guaranteed to send shivers down your spine, their made-to-measure music is made up of improvisations in the best sense of the art, drawing on the ensemble's vast repertoire of live music, and including a new creation by Henning Sieverts.
With Lucilin in the City, Lucilin offers a monthly programme curated by a member of the ensemble, thus highlighting the musical personalities that make up Lucilin and, more generally, the extent and great diversity of the contemporary music repertoire.
