ENKI Quartet are a modern jazz quartet founded in Manchester United Kingdom. Drawing on a wide range of influences from Alfa Mist to John Zorn the four young musicians focus on spontaneity and synergy. They have presented their original repertoire in the UK (Manchester & London) Luxembourg and Germany and have released 2 EPs so far.
The band played their debut gig in Soup Kitchen Manchester in May 2019 collaborating with the London-based afro-jazz band “Kiki and the Tiger”. In July 2019 they played the inaugural shows of the new “ECHTERLIVE” Festival in Luxembourg which attracted a large audience with artists like Donny McCaslin and Joss Stone. ENKI Quartet then continued playing gigs in the UK frequenting well-known Mancunian venues like “Matt&Phreds Jazz Club” and “Band on the Wall”.
The Keppel Road Session was recorded just before the pandemic hit and released in May 2020 becoming the starting point of a larger tour through Europe. Reduced due to the pandemic the tour only comprised 3 concerts in Luxembourg (Neumünster Abbey & TRIFOLION Echternach) and Germany (Jazz im Brunnenhof Trier). The band took advantage of the lighter concert load to record and videotape a second EP ENKI Quartet at the UNISON Studios in Luxembourg. This latest project of the band was released February 2021 and with a new push the band is now planning to play a couple of release concerts which were denied by the pandemic and travel restrictions.
