LUCILIN IN THE CITY #2 - Winds
LUCILIN IN THE CITY #2 - Winds
From January 2023 onwards, United Instruments of Lucilin offers a new concert series: each month another programme curated by a member of the ensemble, highlighting the musical personalities that make up Lucilin and more generally, the extent and great diversity of the contemporary music repertoire.
Named "Lucilin in the city", the series aims, with one event per month in a different location each time, to pursue Lucilin's desire to open up today's music to all types of spaces, and thus allow listeners to have an ever-renewed concert experience.
Lucilin's wind players have a blast in this colourful programme concocted by the ensemble's saxophonist, Olivier Sliepen!
The work of the French composer Christian Lauba takes centre stage; although virtuosic and complex, his music is easily accessible, with a popular but non demagogic edge. In David Lang's Press Release, the clarinettist launches into a series of ever-changing minimalist grooves, while the different colours of the instruments merge in the trios by Furrer and Castex.
Programme:
Christian Lauba (1952): Massaï, for saxophone and bass clarinet (2013)
David Lang (1957): Press Release (1992), for bass clarinet
Christian Lauba (1952): Awabi (2016), for flute
Beat Furrer (1954): Trio for saxophone, flute and clarinet (1985)
Christian Lauba (1952): Worksong (2010), for saxophone
Anne Castex (1993): De l’un à l’autre, for flute, clarinet and saxophone (2019)
With:
Sophie Deshayes, flute
