Showcase
The award-winning Luxembourgish organist Maurice Clement masters his instrument through a constant dialogue. For Clement, music is an "elementary manifestation of human life" through which he wishes to express his belief in truth and beauty. Improvisation, both on the organ and on the piano, is for him the fundamental source of creativity and a wonderful field of experimentation.
After his initial musical training at the conservatories of Luxembourg and Brussels with Alain Wirth, Jean Ferrard and Benoît Mernier respectively, Maurice Clement deepened his organ studies with Jean Boyer at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon.
He is currently organist in residence at the Luxembourg Philharmonic and organist at the Dominique Thomas organ in Diekirch. As a soloist, he is regularly invited to international festivals such as New York, Washington, Chicago, Paris, Lyon, Brussels, Zurich, Munich, Leipzig, Vienna, Prague, Milan and Copenhagen.
His latest recording project is a release (winter 2023) of the complete organ works of César Franck, recorded on four historic Cavaillé-Coll instruments in Paris, Lyon, San Sebastián and Azkoïta.
