Due to the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak and international travel restrictions, architect Kashef Chowdhury will not be able to travel, so the March 24th lecture must be postponed to a later date.
As a precautionary measure in the fight against the coronavirus, the LUCA Luxembourg Center for Architecture and the NGO Friendship have no alternative but to also postpone the opening of the exhibition "Faraway so close".
New dates will be communicated to you as soon as possible.
However, the exhibition is maintained and will be visible from March 25th to June 5th at LUCA.
Thank you for your understanding.
LUCA Luxembourg Center for Architecture and Friendship Luxembourg NGO are pleased to invite to the exhibition FARAWAY SO CLOSE - a journey to the Architecture of Kashef Chowdhury/URBANA, Bangladesh
With this comprehensive monografic exhibition, curated by Niklaus Graber and Andreas Ruby, the Friendship Luxembourg NGO and LUCA Luxembourg Center for Architecture present the work of Kashef Chowdhury / URBANA from Bangladesh, who received the prestigious Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 2016 for the Friendship Centre on the flood plains of Gaibandha in northern Bangladesh. With further projects such as the Cyclone Shelter near the Bay of Bengal or School buildings in the Rohingya refugee camp near the Myanmar border, he gained widespread international acclaim. Careful arrangement of structures in areas marked by extreme climatic conditions, combined with local building techniques and materials, Kashef Chowdhury’s buildings are exemplary of an architecture that serves society with radical simplicity and poetry. With an atmospheric installation, the exhibition invites visitors on a journey to Bangladesh and the architectural worlds of URBANA.
