During the Second World War, two historical subjects linked Luxembourg to Portugal. The Portuguese consul in Bordeaux Aristides de Sousa Mendes and the Portuguese border town of Vilar Formoso played a key role in rescuing tens of thousands of European refugees, including many Jews, from the Nazi clutches.
The bilingual exhibition (French and Portuguese) is a digest of the exhibitions "Aristides de Sousa Mendes", produced by the National Archives and "Portugal et Luxembourg, pays d’espoir en temps de détresse" produced by MemoShoah and shown in Neimënster.
