Art Exhibition by the artist Jørgen Haugen Sørensen (DK).
For more than 65 years now, Jørgen Haugen Sørensen (born in 1934) has been active as a sculptor. His debut at the Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition in 1953 was like a blazing comet, and since then he has made his mark as one of the most important figures of 20th- century Danish art, simultaneously achieving international acknowledgment. He has been able to experiment constantly with form and expression, tackling new materials and techniques and rethinking sculpture. He is copiously represented with works in museums all over the world and has carried out many major projects in public places. He has had one or more international exhibitions almost annually. Numerous books and articles have been written about his art. He has never hung back in numerous interviews from expressing very strong opinions about art and politics, violence and naked power, the roles of victim and executioner, war and torture, censorship and freedom of speech, life and death. The whole of his artistic oeuvre can be read as one long commentary on human life and existence. Jørgen Haugen Sørensen’s work helps to open the eyes of many people so they can see the world we are living in today with it’s wars and violence and xenophobia and lack of brotherly love.
